Thailand Commends China for Easing Tensions with Cambodia

(MENAFN) Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura announced on Tuesday that Thailand values China’s involvement in helping reduce tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia frontier.

Speaking at a press briefing on the border situation, Nikorndej emphasized that Thailand welcomed China’s engagement and its contribution to calming the confrontation between the two neighbors, praising Beijing for maintaining an objective and neutral stance.

He also updated the media on Thailand’s participation in the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on Monday, reaffirming that Thailand is dedicated to resolving the matter through bilateral mechanisms. He stressed that any lasting solution must be directly shaped by Thailand and Cambodia.

A session of the General Border Committee is scheduled for Wednesday in Thailand, where military officials from both nations will hold talks on ceasefire arrangements.
